The new upgraded E.L. Foust 160R2-1 Room Air Purifier now incorporates a handle and heatshield.  All our air purifiers are specifically designed for people with multiple chemical sensitivities or MCS. That means no plastic and no glues. The all metal construction means it won't off-gas volatile organic compounds from materials like plastic. The all metal construction also means it won't be taking up space for 1,000 years after it has reached the end of it's lifespan.  When its time to replace the media, the cartridges can be refilled to save money or ordered ready to go.

The 160R2-1 contains 7 lbs. of activated carbon mix and controls particles with an optional HEPA rated at 0.1 micron efficiency. It has performed well in independent lab tests; and is used & recommended by allergists & environmental doctors nationwide.

Very quiet operation and can be used in homes, bedrooms, classrooms, offices etc...

Decibel rating is 18 @ 3 feet.

Please Note: The alpha stat pre-filter is not necessary, but helps filter out dust particles, dirt, and pet dander. Normal cartridge life is 6-9 months in typical indoor air quality.

I've had this air purifier for at least 20 years. I love I can refill it myself with the combination of choices I prefer. It's great to adjust it to blow directly onto my face or any direction. I have it next to my bed. I recommend this brand.

I have used this machine for over 25 years to cope with severe chemical allergies. E.L. Foust customer service is absolutely the best I have ever had from any company. Highly recommend this air cleaner and this company.

They seem to last forever. I have four 160R2s and they are each at least ten years old. Being able to change out the carbon myself with loose bulk carbon that I buy separately makes it the most economical carbon air purifier out there. I enjoy the smell of the room when I walk in after this machine has been running. I highly recommend.

Mike is an amazing customer service rep. He went above, beyond and over the moon helping me to test one of these. His concern and compassion, patience, ability to explain the finer points of charcoal filter blends, suggestions on placement, prompt replies and shipping---he was the whole package! In this post-COVID time with employee shortages and the like, I'm sure his schedule is full but not once did I feel he was rushing or that I was keeping him from something else. Superlative customer service in every way!

As a Building Biologist I have tested air quality in thousands of homes and encountered numerous air purifiers with many gimmicks and gadgets but the Foust machines always give us the best lab results by far. These air purifiers can clear a room faster than anything and can be used right out of the box with no offensive odors.

I’ve had my Foust room filter for decades! I use it at least an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, and it just keeps on going and going. Amazing. And ordering replacement cartridges is so easy. This is something in my life that really works well.

It’s an investment, but I’m so happy with my air purifier! I’m very sensitive and I was able to use it right out of the box (no off gassing!), and it has saved me on several occasions (laundry exhaust or second hand smoke coming in the window, forest fire smoke, etc). Though it’s not made to be portable, it is sturdy and I saved the packaging so I travel with it (I've checked it on a plane, packed it in the car). It has been indispensable for staying in close-but-not-quite scent-free AirBnbs or spaces with newer construction/furniture.

A great investment for folks with MCS or environmental sensitivities!
