About E.L. Foust Co.

Mr. Foust searched for a solution for his wife's battle with MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity) in the early 1970s. When he couldn't find a solution, he invented an early version of the 160R2 room air purifier in 1974 and founded E.L. Foust Co.

The concept was, and still is, simple: direct air through a large bed of activated carbon, allowing it to adsorb chemicals, fumes, and odors. In our 160R2 unit, we use 7 pounds of carbon to help remove fumes and odors quickly. We also don't use plastics or glues in our units to help avoid introducing additional off-gassing into your environment.

Since 1974, we have been helping people with MCS. Many people who are trying to purify their environment start by purchasing a HEPA air purifier from a local store, only to find that it doesn't adequately address their air quality concerns. That's because HEPA filters are designed to filter particulates, but they don't remove most fumes and odors.

Through adsorption, fumes and odors are captured by the activated carbon. Our purifiers also have particulate filters to remove small particles from your environment. We also offer a UV light option on our 400 Series units.

We have air purifiers for large and small rooms, as well as for your vehicle. Our air purifiers have also been used by people with allergies and multiple chemical sensitivities. Our purifiers are made in the USA.
